Citation:  1.) The President of the United States of America has awarded the DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS to Chief Warrant Officer Three Bernard E. Litaker, United States Army, for heroism while participating in aerial flight on 8 September 2009, as a MH-47G Flight Lead for a Joint Task Force in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. On this date, Chief Warrant Officer Three Litaker provided precision rotary-wing assault support in the face of a determined enemy despite receiving effective enemy fire. His superior leadership of his aircraft placed the assault force in a position to rapidly achieve its objective. His actions enabled the ground force to quickly maneuver onto and off the objective and achieve overwhelming mission success. Chief Warrant Officer Three Litaker's distinctive accomplishments are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Joint Task Force and the United States Army.
