Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Raymond P. Johnson for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an O-2B Pilot over the U Minh Forest, Republic of Vietnam, on 28 March 1971. On that date, Lieutenant Johnson flew a special night and day psychological warfare mission in support of attacking friendly forces. Despite ground fire and restricted visibility, Lieutenant Johnson accurately delivered critical instructions to innocent civilians to insure their evacuation prior to a massive air strike. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Johnson reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
