Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Edward M. Jacquet III, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as B-52 Co-Pilot near Vinh, North Vietnam on 11 January 1973. On that date, Captain Jacquet was flying a mission against a heavily defended target when his cell of B-52 aircraft came under fire from enemy positions. Despite the hazardous condition presented by numerous surface-to-air missiles, Captain Jacquet implemented emergency procedures to assist the aircraft in his cell to remain in formation as well as to perform diversion maneuvers until the danger no longer existed. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Jacquet reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
