Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Dean H. Jones for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Forward Air Controller near Duc Pho, Republic of Vietnam on 11 June 1967. On that date, Captain Jones directed Combat Air Support aircraft in support of friendly forces who were under intense fire from a large and aggressive hostile force. With tenacity and courage, Captain Jones directed a large volume of Combat Air Support aircraft onto the target and coordinated the activities of army aviation and friendly artillery. The maximum possible amount of fire power was brought positions. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Jones reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Dean H. Jones for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while participating in aerial flight as a Forward Air Controller near Tam Ky, Republic of Vietnam on 29 September 1967. On that date, Captain Jones flew in support of a beleaguered friendly ground force that was pinned down by mortar and automatic weapons fire from a hostile force. Despite hazardous flying conditions created by inclement weather, mountainous terrain, and heavy ground fire, he continuously exposed himself to locate the opposing force and neutralized it with precise and devastating air support missions. His courageous actions saved several friendly lives by enabling a rapid medevac helicopter evacuation of the critically wounded. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Jones reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
