Citation:  1.) The U.S.S. SHAMROCK BAY, during action against enemy Japanese forces in the Philippine and Ryukyu Islands Areas. Completing his twentieth mission on April 27, 1945, Lieutenant, Junior Grade, (then Ensign) Lane contributed to the success of his squadron. His gallant devotion to duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
