Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Gerald F. Lamberti for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Navigator of an unarmed RB-26 of the 12th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, Night Photo. On the night of 11 August 1952, Lieutenant Lamberti was assigned a photographic target of the town complex of Songchon, Korea. While on the run from the initial point to the target, he was subjected to intense and accurate fire from thirty-seven and forty millimeter automatic weapons. A second run was necessitated due to evasive actions executed against these enemy defenses. Completing the coverage of this target, Lieutenant Lamberti was diverted to take bomb damage assessment photographs of the Sinchon town complex. As a result of this mission the information desired was obtained for the United Nations effort. By his personal courage and devotion to duty, Lieutenant Lamberti has brought great credit to himself and the United States Air Force.
