Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Specialist Four Leslie R. Kuzior for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary actions above and beyond the call of duty. These men distinguished themselves by exceptionally valorous actions while flying a combat mission in support of friendly infantry which had made contact with a large enemy force. Since day-long battles made resupply during those hours impossible, resupply ships had to complete their missions at night. These men participated in two resupply trips to the mountain. Since the terrain made landing impossible, the ship had to hover while they dropped resupplies from inside. On both occasions, their ships became the target of intense small arms rocket grenades and machine gun fire from the ground. With complete disregard for their own safety, they fearlessly exposed themselves to the fire until they completed the mission. The hovering ship offered an easy target for the enemy gunners, yet they sacrificed their own safety in favor of the welfare of the ground forces. Their actions kept the infantrymen supplied with vital food and ammunition, and thus were an immeasurable aid to the success of the mission. Their actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military and reflect great credit upon themselves, their unit, and the United States Army.
