Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Ronald S. Bartlett for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a B-52 Electronic Warfare Officer over Hanoi, North Vietnam on 26 December 1972. On that date, Lieutenant Bartlett was responsible for defense of his aircraft from the most complex defense system in Southeast Asia while participating in one of the most massive bombing raids in the history of aerial warfare. Despite the large number of surface-to-air missiles launched and the constant threat of hostile interceptors, Lieutenant Bartlett's calm professionalism and combat experience enabled his aircraft to strike the assigned target and return safely to base. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Bartlett reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
