Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Charles T. Kring for extraordinary achievement while participating In aerial flight as an EC-47 Pilot at DaNang Airfield, Republic or Vietnam on 15 February 1973. On that date, Lieutenant Krlng flew an extremely hazardous, mission through adverse weather conditions and through the constant threat of hostile ground fire and attack. In spite of this, he superbly accomplished this highly intricate and hazardous mission in support of friendly ground forces. Through his personal bravery and energetic application of knowledge and skill, he significantly furthered the goal of the United States Air Force mission in Southeast Asia. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Kring reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
