Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Bernard J. Kleinrock for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an EB-66 Electronic Warfare Officer over Southeast Asia on 17 February 1971. On that date, while flying in an unarmed, electronic countermeasures aircraft, he was tasked to provide vital support to an extremely important heavy bomber strike mission. Upon engagement by surface-to-air missiles, Captain Kleinrock, through a judicious combination of accurate electronic countermeasures and timely directions for evasive maneuvers, allowed both his aircraft and the bomber aircraft to evade this great threat. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Kleinrock reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
