Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Robert H. Irving for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as EC-47 Navigator near Khe Sanh, Republic of Vietnam, on 5 April 1968. On that date, Lieutenant Irving was flying a combat mission in support of defending forces at Khe Sanh. With great determination and superior airmanship, in constant danger from hostile ground fire, he guided his aircraft in such a manner as to remain on station and provide timely intelligence to friendly ground forces. This act contributed greatly to the c continuing successful defense of Khe Sanh against unfriendly forces., The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Irving reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
