The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain John H. Iarrobino for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight with Scouting Squadron 42 aboard USS RANGER (CV 4) from 30 December 1941 to 25 February 1942. In the successful completion of these missions, Captain Iarrobino (then Ensign) contributed materially to the success of United States efforts. By his undaunted courage, super airmanship, and unyielding devotion to duty in the face of hazardous flying conditions, Captain Iarrobino reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
