Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Hsi-Chon Hua, Chinese Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 3 August 1959, while serving as Aircraft Commander, 4080th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, Light. On that date, while on a routine night high-altitude flight, Major Hua's aircraft experienced a sudden power failure. All attempts to restart the aircraft were unsuccessful due to a ruptured fuel line. Although at sufficient altitude to bail out successfully, Major Hua elected to continue his flight with the disabled aircraft. After gliding a considerable distance, he established his position and set up a deadstick approach to a little-used airfield and made a successful landing with little damage to his aircraft and without serious injury to himself. The professional ability and perseverence displayed by Major Hua reflect credit upon himself and the Chinese Air Force.
