Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Wayne I. Hollrah for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-7A Instructor Pilot at Nui Coto Mountain, Republic of Vietnam on 16 September 1967. On that day, Captain Hollrah made an emergency airdrop of ammunition in response to an urgent request by United States Special Forces. The drop had to be completed in near darkness under hostile fire. Captain Hollrah's outstanding judgment under extremely hazardous conditions resulted in successful completion of the delivery. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Hollrah reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
