AWARDED DFC: 1
CONFLICT/SPACE FLIGHT/EVENT:  Vietnam
MODEL:  C-130B

Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Pascal E. Hancock for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-130B Navigator near Katum, Republic of Vietnam on 3 January 1968. On that date, Major Hancock was flying an emergency re-supply mission in support of United States Army forces at Katum. His aircraft being seriously damaged by ground fire prior to landing, Major Hancock voluntarily exposed himself in a highly insecure area to make improvised repairs to the aircraft while it was being unloaded. These repairs made the safe recovery of the aircraft and crew possible. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Hancock reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
