Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Jerry A. Hallman for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 Pilot near Can Tho, Republic of Vietnam, on 27 March 1969. On that night, Captain Hallman flew a close air support mission for a unit of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam who were under attack by a heavy concentration of hostile forces. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Captain Hallman made repeated low angle passes through adverse weather conditions and intense hostile fire, delivering his ordnance with outstanding accuracy. As a result of Captain Hallman's efforts, the friendly forces were able to withdraw successfully saving many lives. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Hallman reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
