Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to 1st. Lt. Jack H. Hallett, Air Corps, 367th Fighter Group, for extraordinary achievement in aerial flight against the enemy. On 17 March 1945, Lt Hallett, leading his squadron on a patrol mission without bombs in the vicinity of Birdenfeld, Germany distinguished himself by outstanding aerial skill and leadership. In spite of adverse weather conditions and severe enemy fire, he located and seriously damaged or destroyed over one hundred enemy Transports, thereby contributing toward the dispersal of enemy forces in this area. The courage and gallant devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the Army Air Forces.
