Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Warrant Officer Ronald D. Hall for heroism while participating in aerial flight. Warrant Officer Hall distinguished himself by heroic actions on 1 December 1967, while serving with Company A, 25th Aviation Battalion as Aircraft Commander in a flight of seven helicopters assigned the mission of effecting the resupply of infantry units in the vicinity of Bao Don, Republic of Vietnam. The landing zone was under intense enemy fire, but Warrant Officer Hall disregarded the hostile fire and continued his approach. Due to the small size of the landing zone, Warrant Officer Hall was forced to break off from the flight formation and land in an area illuminated only by a single strobe light and a flare. The close proximity of the friendly ground troops prevented the door gunners from firing upon the hostile positions and necessitated Warrant Officer Hall's executing aerial maneuvers. Due to Warrant Officer Hall's outstanding flying ability and valorous actions the mission was successfully completed and the enemy force defeated. Warrant Officer Hall's personal bravery and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, the 25th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
