Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant (junior grade) Simeon J. Hain for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving in Patrol Bombing Squadron One Hundred Eleven, in action against enemy Japanese forces in the Pacific War Area from December 18, 1944, to March 7, 1945. Completing his twentieth flight during this period, Lieutenant (junior grade) Hain contributed materially to the success of his Squadron. His skill and courageous devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant (junior grade) Simeon J. Hain for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving in a Patrol Bombing Plane in Patrol Bombing Squadron One Hundred Eleven during operations against enemy Japanese forces in the vicinity of Pontianak, Borneo, on May 24, 1945. Rendering valuable services during a ninety-minute bombing attack on this enemy stronghold, Lieutenant (junior grade) Hain contributed materially to the destruction of three Japanese airfields, the sinking of four merchant vessels and to the infliction of damage on three freighters in adjacent waters. His courage and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
