Citation:  1.) The Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a U-10 Pilot over Vinh Dinh Province, Republic of Vietnam on 22 July 1967. On that date, Lieutenant Haddock was flying a critical psychological warfare mission in support of the United States Army's First Airborne Cavalry Division, which had encircled a large element of the hostile forces in the village of Binh De. Despite intense hostile automatic weapon's fire from several locations in Binh De, Lieutenant Haddock made repeated orbits over the village in order to broadcast a loudspeaker message which urged the unfriendly forces to surrender, and which enhanced the safety of the civilian population. Due to his vigilant efforts, the morale of the hostile forces was significantly weakened and safety was insured for the Binh De Villagers. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant haddock reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
