Citation: 1.) The President of the United States of America, takes great pleasure in presenting the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Warrant Officer Michael A. Gulick, United States Army, for heroism while participating in aerial flight: Warrant Officer Michael A. Gulick distinguished himself by outstanding gallantry in action while serving as the Aircraft Commander for the Senior Advisor, 23rd Infantry Division, ARVN, on 20 June 1972, in the Republic of Vietnam. He disregarded extremely heavy enemy fire and flew two emergency ammunition and medical evacuation sorties to a surrounded and heavily engaged ARVN battalion. His skillful flying and extraordinary bravery saved the lives of seven seriously wounded soldiers and provided desperately needed ammunition to the unit. Warrant Officer Gulick's heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit on him and the United States Army.
