Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Emil M. Friedauer for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-130E Navigator for the 776th Tactical Airlift Squadron at Kampong Cham, Cambodia on 6 October 1973. On that date, Captain Friedauer flew four successful sorties in which he directed the air release of over 60,000 pounds of critically needed ammunition to within 50 feet of friendly forces. For his superb performance he received a special commendation from the commander at Kampong Cham. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Friedauer reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
