Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Albert C. Frey, Jr., for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Navigator, 6157th Air Base group, on 5 September 1952. On that date, Lieutenant Frey accompanied an unarmed, unescorted B-26 type aircraft on a night intelligence deep penetration mission of extreme importance to the United Nations effort in Korea. During the run over the target area, the aircraft sustained major battle damage, and one of the crew members was seriously wounded by a shell fragment. Lieutenant Frey immediately advised the pilot to return back to the home base where medical aid was available. He then crawled from the nose of the aircraft to the cockpit where he helped administer first aid to the severely wounded crew member. Through his quick action, sound judgement and exemplary devotion to duty, Lieutenant Frey reflected great credit upon himself, the Far East Air Forces, and the United States Air Force.
