The President of the United States has awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross to Staff Sergeant Brett A. Forsman, United States Army, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 19 October 2001, as a MH-4 7E Flight Engineer in support of the first ground conflict of Operation Enduring Freedom. During the 13-hour period, Staff Sergeant Forsman completed precision infiltration and exfiltration of a combat force under heavy enemy fire, in zero illumination conditions, and in some of the harshest terrain in the world. Through his distinctive accomplishments, Staff Sergeant Forsman's actions reflect great credit upon himself, the United States Army, and the Department of Defense.

The President of the United States of has awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross to Staff Sergeant Brett A. Forsman, United States Army Special Operations Command, for achievement while participating in aerial flight on 14 November 2001 as a Flight Engineer on a MH-47E Chinook Helicopter during Operation Enduring Freedom. He flew a long-range, 15-hour mission deep into enemy territory. The mission was flown at low-level under zero illumination using night vision goggles and required multiple aerial refueling operations over some of the harshest terrain in the world. Staff Sergeant Forsman’s distinctive accomplishments are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon him, the United States Army Special Operations Command, and the United States Army.

Forsman, United States Army, for extraordinary achievement during aerial flight as an MH-47E Flight Engineer and Machine Gunner assigned to a Joint Task Force during Operation Iraqi Freedom in the United States Army Central Command Area of Responsibility. He displayed exceptional gallantry under fire while flying high-risk sensitive mission in some of the harshest flying conditions in the world, supporting American forces shaping the battle for the liberation of Iraq. Staff Sergeant Forsman's distinctive accomplishments reflect great credit upon himself, the United States Army, and the Department of Defense.
