Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Bruce E. Gordon for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 Tactical Fighter Pilot near Loi Tan, Republic of Vietnam on 16 January 1971. On that date, in support of an American company which had come under devastating attack, Major Gordon put on “the finest performance of close air support and precision bombing” ever witnessed by the ground commander. Braving a three thousand foot overcast, mountains shrouded by clouds, and ground fire, Major Gordon totally destroyed the hostile complex, saving the American company form certain destruction. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Gordon reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
