Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Jonathan Goldenbaum for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an A-1 Tactical Fighter Pilot in Southeast Asia on 28 August 1971. On that date, Lieutenant Goldenbaum led a strike mission in support of a friendly outpost that was in danger of being overrun by a superior sized hostile force. Even in the face of the hazardous weather conditions that existed and the hostile weapons fire encountered while initiating the attack, Lieutenant Goldenbaum's timely planning and very accurate ordnance casualties upon the hostile forces and enabling the friendly forces to maintain the defense of their strategic outpost. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Goldenbaum reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
