Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Chief Warrant Officer George J. Gluski for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. Warrant Officer Gluski distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous action on 18 October 1970 in the Republic of Vietnam. While on an emergency rescue mission of a downed aircraft, Warrant Officer Gluski's aircraft took many damaging hits. Disregarding his own safety, Warrant Officer Gluski remained on station enabling his commander to adjust counter fires into the enemy positions, preventing the hostile forces from attaining the downed aircraft. When friendly troops reached the area, Warrant Office Gluski reentered the contact area to deliver vital supplies to the troops. The outstanding flying ability and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
