Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Bradley Gaylord Jr., 6147th Tactical Control Group, Fifth Air Force, for extraordinary achievement in aerial flight as pilot of an unarmed T-6 type aircraft on 27 April 1953. While on a tactical control mission north of "Big Nori Hill" on the Western Front in Korea, Lieutenant Gaylord showed great skill in directing a flight of fighter-bombers in an attack on enemy strong-points consisting of two automatic weapons positions, two mortar positions, nineteen bunkers and twelve caves. After making a low altitude reconnaissance of the target area, Lieutenant Gaylod contacted the fighter-bombers and led them to the target. Despite intense and accurate anti-aircraft and automatic weapons fire, Lieutenant Gaylord remained over the target area at low altitude while directing the four fighter-bombers in their attack runs. Lieutenant Gaylord made a post strike reconnaissance of the target and observed that the strike effectively damaged eight bunkers, four caves, five firing bays and one hundred yards of trench. By his high personal courage and devotion to duty, Lieutenant Gaylord has brought credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
