AWARDED DFC:
1
CONFLICT/SPACE FLIGHT/EVENT: WWII
MODEL: B-26
Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Morris C. Garrison, Jr., for extraordinary achievement as Pilot of a B-26 type aircraft in aerial flight against the enemy. On 10 February 1945, when the lead aircraft’s engine was shot out by anti-aircraft fire, causing the flight leader to drop out of formation, Lieutenant Garrison assumed the lead position of the flight, continued through intense, accurate, heavy ground fire and brought the formation precisely to the target where bombs were released upon a vital automotive and tank repair depot. The courage, skill, and devotion to duty shown by Lieutenant Garrison have contributed in large measure to the operational success of his organization and reflects highest praise upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
