Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Humberto Garcia for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Flight Medical Officer near Binh Thuy AB, Republic of Vietnam on 15 January 1967. On that date, Captain Garcia participated on a Rescue Recovery Mission of a crashed U.S. Army helicopter. He exposed himself to hostile fire while working under difficult conditions in a flooded rice paddy searching the wreckage and immediate area for crew members of the Army helicopter. His calm and skillful performance in recovering the deceased crew required great determination and strength. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Garcia reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
