Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Vincent J. Gallo for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 Pilot near Xuan Loc, Republic of Vietnam on 24 April 1966. On that date, Captain Gallo led a flight of two F-100's on an air strike against a heavily armed hostile battalion. He continually pressed the attack in the face of intense automatic weapons fire. This air strike accounted for several hostile forces killed and wounded. Captain Gallo's personal courage in attacking this heavily defended hostile area, and his outstanding aerial leadership reflect great courage and airmanship. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Gallo reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
