Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Harry Oliver Enderson, United States Naval Reserve, for heroism and extraordinary achievement in aerial flight as Pilot of a Photographic Reconnaissance Plane in Photographic Squadron One, during operations against enemy Japanese forces on Kyushu, Japan, July 7, 10 and 11, 1945. Flying aerial reconnaissance in the face of heavy antiaircraft fire and enemy fighter plane opposition, Lieutenant Enderson skillfully guided his plane over this strongly defended enemy island despite all hazards and succeeded in obtaining photographic coverage of maximum value ln planning subsequent operations. His courage and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
