Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Burrell M. Ellison, Jr., for extraordinary achievement while serving as Pilot of a B-24 airplane on many bombardment missions over enemy occupied Continental Europe. Displaying great courage and skill, Lieutenant Ellison has contributed materially to the successful completion of each of these missions and his actions, while engaged in combat with enemy, have been an inspiring example for his fellow crewmen. The courage, determination and exceptional skill displayed by Lieutenant Ellison on all these occasions reflect great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
