Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Mickey D. Doty for heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 Pilot near Loc Ninh, Republic of Vietnam on 31 October 1967. On that date, Captain Doty was scrambled from the Bien Hoa Alert Pad at 0240 hours to support the Loc Ninh Special Forces Camp which had come under attack by a Viet Cong regiment and a regiment of North Vietnamese regulars. The aggressors were making a human wave attack across the runway located adjacent to the camp and Captain Doty made numerous low level passes, exposing himself to intense automatic weapons fire on every pass, effectively neutralizing and repelling the attack and destroying significant elements of the hostile troops and supplies. His complete disregard for his own personal safety was instrumental in saving the camp and countless friendly lives. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Captain Doty reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
