Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to David B. Davison, Sergeant, Troop C, 7th Armored Squadron, 1st Air Cavalry, United States Army, Republic of Vietnam, for action dated 1 November 1970 for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary actions above and beyond the call of duty: Sergeant Davison distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as observer aboard a light observation helicopter during the rescue of three seriously wounded fellow aviators. Boldly engaging the enemy gunners, he suppressed the enemy positions as his aircraft entered the area to extract the downed aviators. Sergeant Davison voluntarily remained on the ground until the most critically wounded pilot was on board. After bring the aviator to safety, Sergeant Davison and his pilot entered the area once again and safely medevaced the last two pilots. Although under intensive enemy automatic weapons fires, Sergeant Davison maintained complete composure and was instrumental in saving the lives of all three of his comrades. His undaunted courage and complete devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
