Davis for heroism while participating in aerial flight at or near of Kosovo, on 24 March 1999. On that date, Major Davis made aviation history by flying one of the world’s first B-2 combat sorties and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s first strike mission during Operation ALLIED FORCE. He displayed exceptional courage, skill, and endurance while flying a 30-hour combat mission, penetrating an advanced integrated air defense system that included an impressive array of ground threats and a substranial fighter threat already airborne as his B-2 entered the country. Employing the new joint direct attack munition, Major Davis successfully targeted 16 separate impact points and destroyed crucial military facilities including the Kursomlija 3d Army Headquarters Command Post, Batajnica Airfield, the Pokikva Airfield, and the Kula Milicija Weapons Storage facility, proving the awesome capability of the B-2 and the joint direct attack munition weapons systems.
