Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Flying Officer Peter D. Condon for meritorious service as Forward Air Controller with the 1st Brigade, 9th US Division while engaged in air operations against an opposing armed force in the Republic of Vietnam from 13 May 1969 to 30 December 1969. During that period Flying Officer Condon provided extremely valuable guidance to the Commander of the 1st Brigade on the use of Tactical air power. His assistance in the planning and execution tactical air power was instrumental in dealing significant blows to hostile forces while, at the same time, experiencing light casualties to U.S. Forces. The exemplary leadership, personal endeavor, and devotion to duty displayed by Flying Officer Condon in his responsible position reflect great credit upon himself and the Free World Military Forces.
