The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Coleman reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Robert G. Coleman II for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 pilot near Cam Duc Special Forces Camp, Republic of Vietnam, on 7 August 1970. On that date, Captain Coleman flew as a lead on a mission that supported friendly units who were in direct contact with an opposing armed force. Despite marginal weather, intense ground fire, and rugged mountainous terrain, Captain Coleman, with complete disregard for his personal safety, made repeated attacks on the opposing forces. Captain Coleman was able to assist in the suppression of the aggressive force and enable friendly forces to continue their sweep of the area. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Coleman reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
