Citation:  1.) The Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a B-52 combat aircrew member assigned to the 4133d Bombardment wing (Provisional),Anderson Air Force Base,Guam,on 2 July 1968. On this date, Captain Cockerham flew a high priority mission over North Vietnam in support of an extremely critical air operation. Captain Cockerham exhibited outstanding knowledge and skill in countering the surface-to-air missile threats employed by the hostile forces. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Cockerham reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2.) Captain Lorris G. Cockerham is awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a B-52 combat aircrew member assigned to the 4133d Bombardment wing (Provisional),Anderson Air Force Base, Guam, on 6 May 1970. On that date, Captain Cockerham flew as wave lead Electronic Warfare Officer on a highly critical mission over Vietnam. Captain Cockerham's precise application of countermeasure techniques served to completely counter the ground threats thereby insuring successful completion of this mission. He contributed immeasurably to the success of the Strategic Air Command's Contingency Operation in Southeast Asia. The professional competence,aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Cockerham reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
