Citation:  1.) The vicinity of Kowon, Korea, Airman Chapman sighted a large convoy of enemy vehicles. Numerous bombing attacks were made which resulted in the destruction of eleven enemy vehicles and a fuel storage area. During these attacks intense enemy anti-aircraft fire was encountered, and through the efforts of Airman Chapman in directing the pilot in evasive action, the attacks were pressed until all ordnance was expended. AS a result of this highly successful mission vital enemy supplies and transportation facilities were destroyed. By his high personal courage and devotion to duty, Airman Chapman brought great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
