Charles S. Allen Back

First Lieutenant Charles S. Allen is awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism and extraordinary achievement in aerial flight as Pilot of a Fighter Plane in Marine Fighter Squadron THREE HUNDRED TWENTY-THREE in action against enemy Japanese forces in the Ryukyu Islands Area on 25 May 1945. Destroying two enemy aircraft in aerial combat, First Lieutenant Allen contributed materially to the success of his squadron. His gallant devotion to duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
