Lloyd M. Andes Back

Lieutenant Lloyd M. Andes is awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 15 March 1945 Lieutenant Andes distinguished himself while leading a squadron on a dive-bombing mission in Western Germany. Because of inclement weather the primary objective was not bombed; however, Lt Andes continued flight and discovered a marshalling yard containing two oil supply dumps and rolling stock. He deployed his flight in the face of severe anti-aircraft and under his brilliant leadership the objective was effectively bombed. The courage, airmanship and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Andes on this occasion were indicative of his devotion to duty.
