| First Lieutenant Robert S. Alexander is awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while serving as Lead Bombardier on many heavy bombardment missions over enemy occupied territory and Germany. The coolness and exceptional bombing skill of this officer in the face of heavy enemy opposition have been major factors in the successful completion of these missions.
