Dewey E. Albright Back

Dewey E. Albright, First Lieutenant, Air Corps, 387th Bombardment Group (M) is awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement against the enemy on 14 February 1945. While serving as bombardier of a B-26 type aircraft Lt Albright participated in an attack against important communications center and enemy strong points at Xanten, Germany. A burst of antiaircraft fire struck his aircraft just prior to releasing his bombs and Lt Albright was wounded. Despite the pain of his wounds Lt Albright rapidly made his preparations and dropped his bombs with great skill on an important read junction. His skillful perserverance and courage on this occasion, as well as his devotion to duty, reflect high credit upon himself and the Army Air Forces.
